Amazon basin
I covered by a tropical rain forest, the Amazon River rub through it and it is more than 1,000 tributaries, them have 1000 miles of length. It covers about one-third of the South American landmass. It is the largest in the world.
Andes
It extends from the tip of South America to Panamá. It´s the source of many of the major rivers on the continent and is 7,240 km in length. It has many volcanoes, and large ice sheets. The Andes have many peaks of 20,000 ft., with the highest point in South America, Aconcagua; it is in Argentina, at 6,960 m.
Atacama Desert
It is sparsely populated and it runs through the Andes. It is a small cold desert. It is approximately 100 miles long. It landscape is covered by borax lakes, lava flow remnants and saline deposits.
Brazilian highlands
It is about 800 miles in length. It runs through the Brazilian states of Minas Gerais, Goias, Bahía and Sao Paulo in southern Brazil. It includes mountain ranges, namely Serra de Mantiquiera, Serra de Paranapiataba, Serra Geral, and Serra do Mar. It´s highest point is Pao de Asucar it is 2 245 m.
Guiana Highlands
It is over 1,000 miles in length. It goes from Venezuela to the tip of Brazil. It is a plateau, deep gorges, tropical rain forest, rivers and waterfalls. There is the largest waterfall of the world, the Angel Falls at 979 m high. The highest point is Mt. Roraima.
Llanos
It is a plain, in Colombia and Venezuela. It has the Orinoco River. It is approximately 582, 000 sq.km in size.
Pampas
It has many cattle ranches. It is in Argentina. It extends for 1,600 km and covers 761 460 sq.km. It´s most important landform is the Uruguay River.
Patagonia
Located in between the Andes and the Atlantic Ocean, and about 1600 km in length. It streches from Rio Negro in Argentina to Tierra del Fuego.
